INTRODUCTION- 

  • REVIT-
    • Autodesk Revit is a BIM software means a Building Information Modelling.
    • Autodesk Revit used by civil engineers, architects, landscape architects, structural engineers MEP engineers, designers, etc for detailed desiging and drawing.
    • Autodesk Revit is used for detailing of architectural drawings, structural drawings, MEP detailing drawings.
    • Autodesk Revit is used for 2D as well as 3D modelling.
    • It automatically updates floor plans, elevations, and sections as your model develops.
  • Creating a new project-
    • In Autodesk Revit software we can create a new project using template option.
    • As we use template while creating new project, we have the files with pre-managed files for our ease as per drawing needs.
    • For creating a new project we go to NEW option from models and then choose a template as per our requirement.
  • Project shared coordinates-
    • When you combine multiple models and files in a single project, use shared coordinates to establish the positions of the files in relation to each other.
    • A Revit project has internal coordinates for all the elements that compose the model in a project

PROCEDURE-

STEP 1-

  • Open an architectural template. 

STEP 2-

  • Manage tab
  • Go on drop down menu and select specify coordinate points.

STEP 3-

  • Then select reference point as a grid and give 0 value to it and hit ok.

STEP 4-

  • Save the project as project 2.

RESULT-

  • Opened an architectural template and Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.

 

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.

  • Now save the project as project 3.

  • Opened another new file but with a structural template and entered the parameters manually into the structural model.

 

 

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model).

  • Save the model and continue.

STEP 6-

  • Now go on save as option from file menu.

STEP 7-

  • Go to options then a windoe will pop up saying file save options.
  • Now mark make this a central model after use.

RESULT-

  • Hence the architectural project file is saved as central file.

  • LEVELS-
    • Open the section or elevation view to add levels to.
    • On the ribbon, click Level.
      • Architecture tab-Datum panel- Level
      • Structure tab-Datum panel- Level
    • Place the cursor in the drawing area and click.
    • Draw level lines by moving the cursor horizontally.
    • Click when the level line is the correct length.
    • Note- You can change the name of the level by clicking the number to select it. You can also change the height of the level by clicking the dimension.
    • Use the Project Browser to rename the level, if desired.
    • Note- If you rename the level, you are asked if you would like to re-name corresponding plan views as well.
  • GRIDS-
    • Use the Grid tool to place column grid lines in the building design.
    • You can then add columns along the column grid lines.
    • Grid lines are finite planes.
    • You can drag their extents in elevation views so that they do not intersect level lines.
    • This allows you to determine whether grid lines appear in each new plan view that you create for a project.
    • Grids can be straight lines, arcs or multi-segmented. You can hide grid lines after you add them.
    • Grids are annotation elements that help organize your design.
    • Add grid lines to a model to create a reference and framework for the design.
  • Click Collaborate tab Manage Collaboration panel (Worksets).
  • Note: If you have installed the Revit Cloud Worksharing add-on, then: Click Collaborate tab Manage Collaboration panel Collaborate. In the Collaborate dialog, select Collaborate within your network and click OK.

PROCEDURE-

STEP 1-

  • Now go to grids tool from architectural tab.

STEP 2-

  • Now add grids same as project 2.
  • Add logitudinal grids at 5000.
  • And transverse grids at 4000.

RESULT-

  • Grid created.

 

 

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

  • Go to collaborate toolbar and select tool collaborate with central model.

STEP 2-

  • From drop down menu select synchronize now.

RESULT-

  • Project saved as central model then grid is drawn and synchronized.

6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

STEP 4-

  • Now go to file menu and then save as.
  • then go to options, and the from file save options mark make this a central model.

STEP 5-

  • Structural model is saved as central model.

RESULT-

  • Project 3- structural model is saved as central file.

 

 

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

PROCEDURE-

STEP 1-

  • Open structural model.

STEP 2-

  • Then go on link revit tool under insert tab and select required project from where want to copy and click ok.

STEP 3-

  • Now go to copy/monitor drop down menu.

STEP 4-

  • Go on copy tool, then select multiple dialauge box.

STEP 5-

  • Select grid which you want to copy.

STEP 6-

  • And press finish.

STEP 7-

  • And then finish final tick mark.
  • Grids are copied from architectural model to structural model.

RESULT-

  • Grids drawn in architectural model are copied successfully in structural model using copy/monitor tool from collaborate tab.

 

 

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

  • Then go on link revit tool under insert tab and select required project from where want to copy and click ok.

STEP 8-

  • Now link both the projects to construction project.

STEP 9-

  • Both the structural and architectural template is linked to model.

 

 

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner

    • Build includes wall, door, window, component, column, roof, ceiling, floor, curtain system, etc.
    • Circulation includes railing, ramp, stair.
    • Model includes model text, model line, model group.
    • Room & area includes room, room saparator, tag room, area, tag area, area boundary.
    • Opening includes by face, shaft, wall, vertical, dormer, etc.

PROCEDURE-

STEP 1-

  • Open a construction model.

STEP 2-

  • Project browser tree list.

STEP 3-

  • From above tree view - list of the persons working on it.
  • Interior designers, Exterior designers, Contractor, Site engineer, Supervisor.

STEP 4-

  • Now open the architectural model.

STEP 5-

  • Project browser tree list.

STEP 6-

  • From above tree view - list of the persons working on it.
  • Interior designers, Exterior designers, Contractors, 3D modeler, Planner, 2D draughtsman

STEP 7-

  • Now open a structural model.

STEP 8-

  • Project browser tree list.

STEP 9-

  • From above tree view - list of the persons working on it.
  • Structural designer, Structural engineer 

RESULT-

  • From the above project browser- tree list
    • Interior designers
    • Exterior designers
    • Contractor
    • Site engineer
    • Supervisor.
    • 3D modeler
