Fender:

The fender is the part of the car directly over the wheel well which helps prevent debris and grime kicked up by the wheels from damaging the sides of the car or other nearby vehicles while you drive. The fender also protects the wheels from side impacts and other potential damage.

Fenders are the curved strut which sits over the wheel well on a car and helps cover the top of the wheel. Most cars have fenders of one type or another to help cover their wheel wells, and these fenders are generally made of the same plastic, metal, or fiberglass material as the rest of the vehicle.

Shape of Fender:

Fenders protect the sides of your car. The main purpose of fenders is to prevent the dirt and debris kicked up by your wheels from damaging the sides of your car. The fender catches anything brought up by your wheels and causes it to drop straight down instead of spattering against or scratching your vehicle.

Fenders also help protect your wheels. Fenders also provide some protection to the wheels against collisions with other cars, although this isn’t perfect. Generally, the fenders will get hit before the wheels do and, depending on how hard the impact is, will stop whatever hit your car from damaging your tires.

Types of Fenders:

Full Bumper Type:

The above shown image has Full bumper type Fender.

Half Bumper Type:

The above shown car has a half bumper type.

The main Difference between Full and Half Bumper type is to Increase the performance of vehicle and to reduce the sheet metal used in fender. Full Type bumper types are majorly used in High Performance cars like shown above.

Using Half bumper Type should save the sheet metal Usage Because of that we can reduce the weight of car.

Fender Mountings:

Fender has several mountings which are used to connect with bumper, A-Pillar, Sill, Cowl, Drip.

Given Master Section:

The above Image is the Given Master section used to Design Fender and Mounts which are listed above.

Drip Mount:

The above image is Drip area mount used to connect with BIW Part of Engine Compartments. We need to follow the standard design consideration which could be followed by any OEM. The length of Drip Mount is Varied between the OEM. We know that the Drip mount is connected with the Engine Compartment with some Fastening technique.

A-Pillar Mount:

This mount is designed in such a way to connect with A-Pillar of car Side body.

Sill Mount:

Sill is a part of Upper body structure of BIW of car. Car door sill is a small strip of metal placed at the base of your doors. These plates offer support, protecting your car's frame to ensure there's no sagging. Sills also provide a solid footing, allowing you to climb in and out of your vehicle comfortably.

Bumper Mount:

This mount is used to connect the Bumper of the car.

Baffle Mount:

This Mount is used to install the Baffle, baffle is a sponge type material which is installed above the wheel arch to fender. Baffle is installed to reduce the noise and vibration developed during running the vehicle.

Conclusion:

The Fenders Mounts has been created using NX-CAD Software. This Mounts are created according to our own design Engineering Standards.
