We know that all the surfaces are designed with the help of the class-A surface. All the copmplex solid models are made with the help of class-A surface. Basically the mold and cavity are given the draft angle for for the easy removal of product from the mold. Thus, inspection of the draft angle for class-A surface and the continuous profile is known as draft analysis.

Steps involved in doing draft analysis:
    1) Check for the connectivity of the class-A surface by selecting the "boundary" tool and ensure the overall contiuous profile.

    2) Find the tooling axis of the component. "Tooling axis " is the direction in whcih the mold opens. In case if there is the internal hole or slot in the profile then there will be the need of side core, whixh will lead to increase in cost of making of body. Tus consider the tooling axis through which the cost of making the body will be much lesser.

    3) Creation of Dummy Tooling axis - Dummy tooling axis is needed to ensure that all the lines in the profile are clear with tooling axis. If there is any line paralell to the dummy axis then it needs to be drafted.

    4) Using the bisecting method for creating of tooling axis -

In bisecting method, lines are drawn through the points in profile which seem to be parallel to the tooling axis. Then with the help of "bisecting line" command, the line bisecting the profile line is drawn whcih will be in the middle of both the line facing towards  the tooling axis. Create the bisecting lines for both the other remaining axis other than tooling axis. Once the bisecting lines are created for those remaing axis, then create the line whcih will bisect both of these, axis bisecting lines. These bisecting line is the "tooling axsis" with the reference to the dummy tooling axis.

    5) Publication :- Publish the class-A surface and tooing axis so that they are easily available and visible. For doing the publication, "select the item to be published - Tools - Publication".

    6) Do the draft analysis :- This command can be selected through, "Insert - Analysis - Feature Draft Analysis". Make sure that "Material" is selected in "View mode customization"

    7) Fix the compass on the tooling axis of the profile :- The compass is located in the right side of the corner in the screen drag these compass and place it on the tooing axis of the profile. Then click on the "lock" in the "draft analysis" and thus the compass will get lock on the axis. This helps in observing the draft ngle required for the class-A surface.

    8) Color code - When the surface is green then the draft angle is around or grated that 3 degree. When the surface is red then the draft angle is between 0 and 3 degree, i.e. the surface is straight. When the surface is blue, then the draft angle is negative. The minimum draft angle required for thhe plastic component is 3 degree. For the sheet metal componenet the draft angle required is 7 degree.
