    1) concrete mix design for M35 grade concrete with fly ash

    •  From table 8 of IS456, Target mean strength fck'= fck+ 1.65s= 30+ 1.65*5= 38.25n/mm2
    • From table5 of is456:2000, we have for m35 grade concrete w/c ratio= 0.45. by experience take w/c ratio = 0.40.
    • From table2 of is10262:2009, water content for maximum nominal size of aggregate 20mm and slump value of 25-50mm = 186 litres.
    • Selection of cement content. We have w/c= 0.4, cement= w/0.4.                          C= 186/0.4= 465 kgs. For fly ash increase cement content by 10%.             C = 465*1.10= 512kgs.                          w/c ratio changes w/c= 186/512= 0.36.
    • Fly ash= 30% of cement content.             Fly ash= 512*0.3= 154kg.                         Cement= 512-154= 358kgs.
    • Volume of C.A and F.A.                              From table3- IS10262,  for w/c=0.5, 20mm agg size V= 0.6.   But for every 0.05 change in w/c ratio, increase vol by 0.01. therefore,.                                      V of ca= 0.63, vol of fa= 1-0.63= 0.37.

    Mix calculations-

    Vol of cement= (358*1)/(3.15*1000)=0.113cum

    Vol of flyash= (154*1)/(2.2*1000)=0.07cum

    Vol of water=186/1000= 0.186cum

    Vol of total agg= 1-0.113-0.07-0.186= 0.631cum

    Mass of CA= 0.631*0.63*2.74*1000= 1090Kg/cum

    Mas of FA= 0.631*0.37*2.74*1000= 640Kg/cum.

Mix proportions for m35 grade concrete with flyash.

    • Cement= 358kg/cum
    • Fly ash= 154kg/cum
    • Water= 186kg/cum
    • F.A= 640kg/cum
    • C.A= 1090kg/cum
    • W/c ratio= 0.36
    • Trial mix= 1:1.25:2.12.

    2) concrete mix design for M50 grade concrete without flyash

    •  From table 8 of IS456, Target mean strength fck'= fck+ 1.65s= 50+ 1.65*5= 58.25n/mm2
    • From table5 of is456:2000, we have for m50 grade concrete w/c ratio= 0.40. by experience take w/c ratio = 0.35.
    • From table2 of is10262:2009, water content for maximum nominal size of aggregate 20mm and slump value of 25-50mm = 186 litres.
    • Selection of cement content. We have w/c= 0.35, cement= w/0.35.                          C= 186/0.35= 532kgs.

    Vol of cement= (532*1)/(3.15*1000)=0.168cum

    Vol of water=186/1000= 0.186cum

    Vol of total agg= 1-0.168-0.186= 0.646um

    Mass of CA= 0.646*0.63*2.74*1000= 1115Kg/cum

    Mas of FA= 0.646*0.37*2.74*1000= 655Kg/cum.

Mix proportions for M50grade concrete without flyash

    • Cement= 532kg/cum
    • Water= 186kg/cum
    • F.A= 655kg/cum
    • C.A= 1115kg/cum
    • W/c ratio= 0.35
    • Trial mix= 1:1.23:2.10
