Aim

To mesh volumetric mesh for Testla cyber Truck for CFD Analysis

 

COMMAND USED

SURFACE

Fill Holes

Patch the hole with close loop single coon

Faces

cut or uncut

cut the face from the point to edge or point, uncut the selected edge

    patch the single conns

create a curve with respect to points

Clean UP

symmetry clean up

geometry check-up

geometry error has been rectified and check the geometry

Clean up

remove single conn by patching the edges

SET MESH MESH PARAMETER AND QUALITY criteria for different parts with is mention

CFD Meshing- auto-sizing ing meshing according to average sizing 

Free mesh- constant mesh size

align - align the model points

finding minimum and maximum size using distance command spacing set for different parts

Body

min- 3mm

max- 100 mm

min-1 mm

EXTERNAL CONTROL VOLUME  SURFACE

External Volume (CV) 2D MESH

TOP & BOTTOM SURFACE

MINIMUM- 300 MM

MAXIMUM- 500 MM

SIDE SURFACE BIASING 2D MESH

 set min 100 with biasing factor- 0.75

 

 

Volumetric Mesh 

PROCEDURE

  1. Initially, the geometry is cut in half and deleted due to the symmetry nature of the truck for simplicity 
  2. clean up the truck using the new surface creation tool
  3. check the cleanup geometry using the check-geometry command to make sure no error
  4. 2D Tetra mesh is done for the body and tyres with a different mesh size check the mesh size by specifying quality criteria
  5. copy of mesh truck to obtain full car truck with 2D Mesh
  6. check the 2D mesh quality and edit the mesh using mesh editing command 
  7. the external surface is created to capture control volume and 2D, the mesh is done with the top and bottom mesh with constant mesh surfaces that specify side mesh with biasing meshing method so it captures fine mesh at bottom & top bigger cells
  8. Volumetric Mesh is done

PROBLEM FACED

minimum mesh size cannot be done this is due to overload for the system 

Due to overload in mesh cell software closed many times, this is rectified by reducing mesh cell but it is not advisable to take mesh count as a conclusion without grid independent study so further quality increase leader system power 

conclusion

Tesla cyber Truck is clean up, and the external volume mesh is done successfully
